This Charity Benefitting Concert Gala is the premier red carpet event of Western Canada. Not just a fashion show, not just a concert, FMA Vancouver is a fusion of catwalk and concert set against the backdrop of one of the world’s most beautiful and trend setting cities.

Canadian comedian and actress Ellie Harvie and ET Canada’s Erin Cebula are hosting this year’s FMA Vancouver. The media duo will present 'Sky 360', the airy incarnation of fashion runway, live music and art performance held on September 27, 2008 at The Centre in Vancouver for the Performing Arts. Sky 360 re-lives the old world glamour of travel as each segment celebrates the excitement of jet-setting and far away destinations along with an eco-green theme.

The whole venue at The Centre will be transformed into an exhilarating airport scene with staff in ’60s and ’70s-inspired airline uniforms designed by Jolie Chan of Jolie Couture.

Terminal 1 – Trans Canada - an exclusively Canadian roster of designers, musicians and artists.

Terminal 2 – Mile High - a provocative selection of lingerie and bathing suits.

Terminal 3 – Eco Green - featuring designers who are taking eco-couture to the next level.

Terminal 4 – Elite Star - first class finale of high profile designers.

International designers include Betsey Johnson, Wolford and Calvin Klein, while national stars join their ranks such as TV’s 'Making it Big' winner Jason Matlo, Bikini-designer extraordinaire, Anna Kosturova, Canada’s Project Runway designer judge Shawn Hewson's 'Bustle', winner Evan Biddell, and runner-up Carlie Wong. Further locally-based stars include Nicole Bridger, Elroy Apparel, Evan & Dean, Odd Molly, Jacqueline Conoir and Mellinda Mae Harlingten. Also featuring top graduates from Kwantlen University College and Helen Lefeaux School of Fashion Design.

This year’s beneficiary is the Canadian Make Poverty History as part of Bono and Bob Geldof's international campaign to eradicate global poverty, and The WordLoveWorldLove Project that connects Canadian children with children in developing countries who have been impacted by crisis.

From the first annual Fashion Trashion show put on by the Studio Art program at University of Minnesota, Morris. The students in the beginning art classes designed and constructed outfits out of trash and recycled materials, and then put on a full runway show with judges, jokes, and way too much fun. They had an enormous SRO turnout - far larger than anyone expected. It was a great end to the day of the Undergraduate Research Symposium day - a wonderful dessert at the end of a rich and varied meal.

Jess Larson asked me to take photos at the event, and in the end I took well over 1,000 photos. I've sifted out the obviously broken ones, and then divided what's left into two groups: the "top tier" (the ones that I thought were better for some mysterious reason; this set) and "the rest".

UMM folks should feel free to use these however they see fit. It would be nice to know when they're being used, however. Thanks.

Thanks to everyone involved for putting on a really tremendous show!

DEMOYO - World MasterCard Fashion Week - October 23, 2012

Fashion Designer Paidemoyo Chideya has spent the last ten years discovering what it means to become not only the epitome of the classic, but the innovative of fashion as well. With her product line, it is clear that this designer is here to make her mark on the fashion world.

Born in Zimbabwe, raised in Sweden, London and with nuances in Paris, Paidemoyo learned to refine her design eye through the diversity of all the multiplexes of cultures that surrounded her upbringing. Upon her New York City arrival, and determined to learn and succeed in the fashion realm, she apprenticed for Carolina Herrera, Calvin Klein and the likes of Ralph Lauren, where she learned to refine her eye for vintage, style, eloquence and demure.

Now mature, and ready to entrance the world with her own style, she has created DeMOYO which encapsulates her vision of the fashion world and her efforts to give back to a world that is in desperate need of healing. This designer not only has a vision, but genuinely works on infusing help into the infrastructures of suffering economies, by not only being eco- conscious, but by creating jobs where jobs are needed right in the heart of the problem, sourcing locally in Africa.

I saw this amazing paint job at the Temecula Rod Run car show. The lines are offset because the door wasn't completely closed. The shadow near the top is from the old fashioned door handle. Sadly, I didn't take a picture of the whole car, so I don't remember what the car was. To me, it was all about the graphical design.

Other car pictures that I've taken can be seen in my Cars set. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157624072368674/

For vintagephoto comparison

Here is a sketch showing what I think may be the design of the outfit. The white sleeveless blouse seems to be a balloony kind of garment like the old sack dress. It's roomy with a kind of drawstring or elastic near the bottom.
