"As a writer, promoter, MC and roadshow DJ, Kash Sahota has been active in the Asian music industry for fifteen years. His journalism has found an audience through Asian Age, Cineblitz, Movie, Panjab Times and others, featuring increasingly in electronic and online media such as This is Bollywood. Despite his success in many roles, it is as a radio presenter that he has been most influential. His landmark shows, including Kash and Poli on Birmingham’s Radio XL, Aaj Kal on Radio Derby and The Base Lion Rokz! on Apna Radio brought Bhangra to the ears of a modern, young and confident audience.
Stepping away from the nostalgic, old fashioned presentation of much of 1980’s mainstream community radio, Kash Sahota’s shows energised the airwaves bringing on board lively guests, contemporary music and an English language presentation to win over a new generation of forward-looking Asian youth. For the first time, music charts were compiled and broadcast, giving a sense of immediacy to the music and the artists on the play lists. Across the country young people realised that you didn’t have to be a superstar to be on the radio, and this new formula could be applied as effectiely in Edinborough as in Southall.
Although an innovator in presentation and promotion, Kash Sahota has a deep respect and regard for the history and traditions of Bhangra, and the “Roots” Punjabi Folk music from which it flows. Kash Sahota is our Bhangra Champion for the East Midlands and Scotland.

Direction Sign to Bruce Castle Park & Museum

15 June 2011. I can't remember seeing this sign before.
It points down Bruce Grove towards one of Haringey's Green Flag parks. And to Bruce Castle - at the southwest corner of the park. This is the only Grade I Listed building in the borough and our local history Museum.
If you were in a car you'd probably overlook this sign completely. Or by the time you spotted it, you'd realise you were in the wrong lane and had missed the turn into Bruce Grove.
The design of the sign, while tastefully old fashioned and understated, is also deeply dull.
Hardly the best way to "drive traffic" to one of the "gems" of our Borough.
I wonder if the unintended but implicit message is: "Museum / Park = unimportant = don't bother".

UGG Boots:
Ugg boots (sometimes called uggs) are unisex sheepskin boots, made of twin-faced sheepskin with fleece on the inside and with a tanned outer surface, often with a synthetic sole. Ugg boots are believed to have been first developed in New Zealand or Australia although the exact date is uncertain.
There has been a dispute between manufacturers of ugg boots, as to whether "ugg" is a generic term and thus ineligible for trademark protection, especially in the region of origin. Deckers Outdoor Corporation holds the UGG trademark in more than 100 countries worldwide. Notable exceptions are Australia and New Zealand where the term is considered generic.

Jimmy Choo:
Dato' Jimmy Choo OBE, born Jimmy Choo Yeang Keat, (Chinese: 周仰杰) is a Malaysian fashion designer based in London, United Kingdom. He is best known for founding Jimmy Choo Ltd that became known for its hand-made women's shoes.
Choo was born in Penang, Malaysia into a family of shoemakers. He is of Chinese Hakka descent. He made his first shoe when he was 11 years old. He is perhaps the most notable of students of Cordwainers Technical College in Hackney from which he graduated in 1983. (The college is now part of the London College of Fashion.) Choo has divulged that he worked part-time at restaurants and as a cleaner at a shoe factory to help fund his college education.
Jimmy Choo's beginnings can be traced back to his workshop in Hackney, North London, which he opened in 1986 by renting an old hospital building. His craftsmanship and designs were soon noticed and he came to the verge of international notability when his creations were featured in a record eight pages in a 1988 issue of Vogue magazine. Patronage from Diana, Princess of Wales from 1990 onwards further boosted his image.
